This year, I lost someone very important to me, and this piece came about as a sort of tribute. She was a special human, and she left so much love for me to take into the future… Gone in body but alive in my heart.

The woods in the night are an amazing place. I painting this while thinking of the nights spent tromping through my favorite nature preserve with my friends, stumbling over rocks and roots and looking up, mouth agape, at the multitude of celestial objects.
